How Many Solar Panels Do You Need?
This 300W kit needs a solar panel array of about 600W to run reliably — for example, 2 standard 400W solar panels wired together (fewer, larger panels or more, smaller panels also work, as long as the total wattage adds up). This is more than the pump’s own 300W rating on purpose: it covers cloudy days, cable and controller losses, and less-than-perfect sun angles, so your pump still gets full power when it matters. Panel count is a general guideline — your installer or our team can confirm the exact setup for your site, panel brand and location.
Which Solar Borehole Pump Is Right For You?
Choosing the right pump comes down to your borehole’s water level (the depth to the water itself, not the total borehole depth) — not just the size of the motor. A pump that’s too small for your water level won’t lift enough water, while an oversized pump costs more than you need. As a simple rule of thumb, choose a model rated for at least 25–30% more head than your actual water level, to allow for pipe friction losses and any future drop in the water table.
| Model | Motor Power | Material | Recommended for water levels up to |
|---|---|---|---|
| 3HRI210-80 / 3HR210-80 | 210W | 201SS / 304SS | ~60m |
| 3HRI300-100 / 3HR300-100 | 300W | 201SS / 304SS | ~75m |
| 3HRI500-120 / 3HR500-120 | 500W | 201SS / 304SS | ~90m |
| 3HR750-140 | 750W | 304SS | ~105m |
| 3HR1200-180 | 1200W | 304SS | ~135m |
The 3HRI range (201 stainless steel) is our most affordable option, ideal for clean, neutral borehole water (pH 6.5–8.5). The 3HR range (304 stainless steel) is more corrosion-resistant and better suited to acidic, saline or harder water, and also extends to deeper 140m and 180m options. Not sure of your borehole’s water level, or which range suits your water quality? Contact us before ordering — we’re happy to help you pick the right pump so you don’t end up with the wrong one.
